Dead Coin
A cryptocurrency that is no longer in existence is called a “dead coin.”
Cryptocurrencies can be classified into two categories: active and dead. Dead cryptocurrencies are those that have failed or been revealed as scams, and are no longer viable. Thousands of cryptocurrency projects or Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) have failed for a number of reasons, such as internal corruption amongst developers, massive devaluation, low liquidity, or total abandonment. However, most coins that become labeled “dead coins” go extinct. Some do come back to life if there is enough interest.
