Crypto vlogger’s live stream cut short by youtube

Sunny Decree’s live stream on cryptocurrency came to an unexpected end after Youtube struck it down for “violating its policies”

Youtube appears to be taking a stricter stance against cryptocurrency, revealed after a vlogger shared that his livestream was cut by the platform due to its “harmful and dangerous policy.”

The crypto youtuber, Sunny Decree, took to Twitter to explain why his livestream was halted. Decree attached a screenshot of Youtube’s message to him on his post.

According to the image, Decree’s livestream, entitled “BITCOIN DUMP OR DIP…? CME Gap, BTC Dominance, Altcoins, Stocks, Gold, …” had been removed because it was a violation of the platform’s harmful and dangerous policy.

Youtube explains further that since it is Decree’s first offense, the removal serves as a warning. However, if it happens again, “your channel will get a strike and you won’t be able to do things like upload, post, or live-stream for one week.”

“A second strike will prevent you from publishing content for two weeks. Three strikes in any 90-day period will result in the permanent removal of your channel.” it adds.

Youtube responded to his tweet, explaining that Decree could appeal against the warning.

“We understand mistakes happen and you don’t mean to violate our policies — that’s why the first violation is only a warning. You’ll only be warned once, and this warning will remain on your channel. The next time your content is found to violate the Community Guidelines you’ll get a strike. If you think we made a mistake, you can appeal the warning.”

“If you’ve already submitted an appeal, it’s best to wait for a decision from our team. Due to challenges presented by COVID-19, we’re experiencing delays and it may take some time to hear back. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.”

This is not the first time that Decree’s channel has been targeted by the platform. In December 2019, Youtube started aggressively deleting videos with content related to cryptocurrencies. Decree’s, alongside many other high profile channels, were a victim to the mass deletion. Youtube later stated that the move had been an error on their part and restored most of the videos.

The video streaming giant appears to be implementing these efforts as a part of their response to the fake “crypto giveaway” scam videos that proliferate throughout the platform.

In June of this year, Youtube shut down the official channel of Bitcoin.com, an online media outlet focused on news within the cryptocurrency industry, citing that it had violated the platform’s terms of service. After an appeal was sent, the channel and all of its 40,000 subscribers were restored two days later.

Another media outlet, Cointelegraph, has also been on the receiving end of Youtube’s erratic crackdown on crypto streamers. The platform cut short its livestream on the Bitcoin Halving last May, as well as the outlet’s live stream coverage of the infamous Twitter attack.
