With Elon Musk set to appear on Saturday Night Live this Saturday, DOGE devotees have their sights set on a $1 price target

Elon Musk will appear on the American comedy show Saturday Night Live this Saturday, May 8, and yet another DOGE-related tweet from the Tesla magnate has sent crypto investors into a frenzy.

Dogecoin holders are hoping for an extension to this week’s historic rally, during which the Internet’s favourite meme coin registered an all-time high of around $0.69. DOGE currently boasts year-to-date gains of over 12,000%, and has now successfully beaten out Ripple’s XRP token to become the fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation.

Elon’s influence

Musk’s “Dogefather” tweet has ignited speculation that the self-styled “Technoking of Tesla, Imperator of Mars” will mention DOGE on SNL, potentially compounding Dogecoin’s recent explosion into the mainstream. The CEO also tweeted, “Let’s find out just how live Saturday Night Live really is”, further adding to the expectation that SNL will be used as a platform to preach the gospel of DOGE.

Musk has become a darling of the DOGE community, with rallies being attributed to various tweets of his. He has repeatedly implied support for Dogecoin going “to the moon”, which aligns with many DOGE holders’ long-term price target of $1.
