Bitfinex, one of the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced that it is introducing two new tokens to its platform as it continues to expand its offerings to customers.
The Hong Kong-based exchange is adding Stellar (XLM) and Verge (XVG), both tokens which are placed within the top 30 coins based on market value. According to CoinMarketCap, eight-placed Stellar is worth $8.2 billion whereas, 23rd-placed Verge has a market cap that totals $1.2 billion. The addition of these two tokens represents a significant addition to the Bitfinex platform.
“Adding Stellar and Verge to our platform underlines our commitment to extend the reach of Bitfinex traders to the most exciting investment opportunities in the space,” said Jean-Louis van der Velde, CEO of Bitfinex, in an announcement. “With a stellar combined market cap of $9+ billion, these elite tokens bolster our growing array of tokens as we continue to anticipate the needs and demands of the digital asset community.”
Founded in 2012, the digital asset trading platform revealed last month that it had introduced the trading of 12 new tokens, including Aion (AION), Raiden Network (RDN), Request Network (REQ), IOSToken (IOST), and Loopring (LRC).
“Today’s announcement continues the strong wave of activity within the Bitfinex community, following the addition of 12 new tokens to our platform,” van der Velde added. “We look forward to maintaining this positive momentum in the weeks and months ahead.”
Data from CoinMarketCap show that in the past 24 hours the Hong Kong-based exchange had a trading volume worth nearly $1.1 billion. Delivering peer-to-peer financing, an over-the-counter (OTC) market and margin trading for a wide selection of digital currency assets, Bitfinex is one of the major exchanges that is providing greater exposure to a range of tokens for investing and trading opportunities.
As the cryptocurrency market continues to gain mainstream interest more organisations are adding various digital currencies to widen people’s exposure to them. Yesterday, it was reported that users of the Wirex Bitcoin debit card would now be able to make payments with Litecoin following the integration of the altcoin. According to the company, they believe that Litecoin will become a global payment option in the near future.
Global trading and investment platform eToro has also been adding new altcoins as it responds to customer demands for investment opportunities in the market. In February, it was announced that it had added NEO following on from the addition of Stellar. Last month, it was reported that it has also integrated EOS. The other cryptocurrencies it offers support to include Bitcoin, Ethereum, BCH, XRP, Litecoin, Ethereum Classic, and Dash.
