Over 1,700 people are attending events and talks on topics including DAOs, stablecoins and EU regulation
Today sees the start of two days of talks and events for the Paris Blockchain Week Summit (PBWS) 2020. The summit, which takes place in Station F, the world’s largest business incubator located in Paris’ 13th arrondissement, will this year be livestreamed as well, and is the flagship event of Paris Blockchain Week (PBW) – the biggest Blockchain & Digital Assets event in Europe.
PBW, which is organised by Woorton, Chain Accelerator and Datalents, is designed to be an opportunity for people in the blockchain and crypto space to discuss hot topics and make international connections through meet-ups, hackathons, workshops and parties. The week is supported by the French Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Secretary of State for Digital Affairs and aims to promote the blockchain ecosystem in France.
This years’ summit will also be hosted on PBWS’ dedicated online platform where companies and individuals can attend digital panels, keynotes and startup pitches with a virtual pass.
PBWS Co-host Michael Amar explained, “We recognise that the current situation calls for an extraordinary level of caution, and the safety of all attendees is our utmost priority. To give attendees more flexibility in attendance we have decided to modify the event to a hybrid format. Our goal is, and always has been, to propel the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry forward, and we look forward to welcoming attendees to the second instalment of PBWS in whichever format they prefer.”
PBWS is sponsored by 70 blockchain enterprises and start-ups including Polkadot, Tezos, Stellar and Bitpanda, and will bring together 170 speakers, 100 media representatives and over 1,700 attendees. The summit aims to drive blockchain development and demonstrate the French regulatory framework by attracting speakers from world-leading companies to share market insights and present the latest industry advances.
This year’s event will focus on four main subjects – Enterprise Blockchain, Open Finance, Tech Builders and Public Policy. More specific topics that will be covered include EU regulation, stablecoins, decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs), collectibles and recent advances in consensus mechanisms.
The speakers this year come from a diverse range of countries and sectors and include Dr Marion Laboure, Macro Strategist at Deutsche Bank; Changpeng Zhao, Founder and CEO of Binance; Cedric O, French Secretary of State for Digital Affairs; Ryan Selkis, Co-founder and CEO of Messari, and Valérie Fasquelle, Director of Infrastructures, Innovation and Payments at Banque de France. PBWS aims to make France the first G20 country to create a business-friendly environment for the fast evolving world of crypto.
