This year’s Blockchain World Conference (BWC) will be closing with the first-ever, casino sanctioned, all crypto poker tournament, according to an announcement released today.

Taking place in Atlantic City, New Jersey, between the 11th-13th July, Blockchain World Conference is an event where blockchain and cryptocurrency experts can meet and discuss the most up-to-date and current information on the sector.

This year’s conference, however, will be concluding with something a little bit different.

On the 14th July, the world’s first 100-player crypto poker event will take place at 11:00 ET. Ticketed entirely by Blockparty, a blockchain-powered live event ticketing platform, it will also be used for participants to buy into games, bet, and cash out in cryptocurrency.

According to Alex Falcone, COO of the Blockchain World Conference, there’s no better way to end a three-day event in Atlantic City than with the first ever crypto poker tournament.

“After three days of discussions about blockchain and cryptocurrency, this is a fun and unique way to bring our event to a close – highlighting a compelling real-world application of this technology, in true Atlantic City fashion,” Falcone added. “The Blockparty team are incredible leaders in blockchain-based live event ticketing and they are the perfect partners for us to work with for an event of this caliber.”

In order to take part in the poker tournament, players must be attendees of the BWC, in addition to paying a $250 buy-in in cryptocurrency on the Blockparty platform. According to the announcement, the winner will receive two VIP tickets to the next Blockchain World Conference, taking place in Hollywood, Florida, between the 3rd-5th December, as well as a three-night stay at the Diplomat, a prize amounting to $10,000. Blockparty are also offering prizes to any player that knocks out a pro, and a competition where they will pay for the buy-in for 10 people to attend the tournament.

“As one of the first true real-world applications of blockchain and cryptocurrency, we’re excited to add another event category, like poker, to our ticketing repertoire,” said Shiv Madan, CEO of Blockparty. “It’s a great testament to what we’ve built that the mainstream music scene and crypto enthusiasts alike are recognizing the ease and convenience of our platform and this is a great taste of what the future holds as mainstream adoption of blockchain only continues.”

In May, Blockparty launched its mobile app in the Apple App Store, enabling users to purchase event tickets, transfer them, and get rewarded for bringing friends, sharing events, and more. The platform is aiming to improve the ticket purchasing process for various events by using the blockchain to address issues and challenges such as ticket fraud and secondary ticket resellers.
